Hassle-free ordering with Cebuboy Lechon

Lechon, one of pinoy's favorite when it comes to party. This crunchy, oily, reddish meat with an apple on its mouth is everyone's bet in all the gatherings, events, get together, name it. Party won't be complete without it. Even the people abroad are loving it, except me, i guessed. But last nights encounter with Cebuboy Lechon made my disagreement to 180 degree turn. And I just found myself eating lechon like there's no tomorrow.

Cebuboy Lechon, provider of authentic Cebu Lechon, gave us the good news  last November 24, 2012 at Ivory Tower, Acacia  Estate, Taguig City. They're now delivering lechon from Cebu to Manila in a hassle-free ordering. Indeed, the best lechon in the world, according to Anthony Bourdain, a celebrity TV chef, is now made available and easily accessible to Manila.

PhilCare Wellness Activity at STI Global

In celebration of the World Diabetes Day,  PhilCare recently held a delightful cooking event entitled "Treat Me Right: Healthy Treats as Healthy Gifts". The activity is a free baking demo with Chef Ingrid V. Mediarito which aim to teach PhilCare members learn how to make delightful but healthy pastries. The event took place at the STI Global City (near Market! Market!) last November 17 from 10AM to 12 NN.

Impressively the event started exactly at 10 and I’m 10 minutes late (blame my heels, lol!). But good thing the cooking part happened after Chef  Ingrid gave the instructions on the recipes, the equipment and the preparation. All the participants were given a brown envelope; inside are the recipes to choose from. The four recipes are: Festival fruitcake cookies, Guilt-free chewy brownies,Homemade Granola Treats and Prune Buttercream Delight Bars. Our group go for the brownies and granola treats.

Mom and I at Banana Leaf

Nothing special about this post. Just mom and I enjoying our lunch in Banana Leaf at Greenbelt 3.

But to give you a clearer picture, here’s the story:

Famous MOCHI SWEETS Now in Manila!

logoBanking on Filipino’s sweet tooth and penchant for embracing food from around the world, the wildly popular MOCHI SWEETS has made its way into the local food scene and is sure to create a mochi craze as seen in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China.

“Mochi” is a well-loved Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice flour pounded into shape. Mochi Sweets has taken this traditional dessert further by creating small balls of luxurious and flavorful cream and wrapping it in chewy mochi skin.  Think dessert dumplings with frozen cream or mousse in the center and a mochi covering made with just the right thickness, moistness and stickiness.

Yabang Pinoy Launches PHmade: “It’s Worth Buying For”

Yabang Pinoy intensifies its consumer revolution campaign through the PHmade
movement.

The pioneering Filipino pride movement, through PHmade, yet again encourages
Filipinos to support Filipino ideas, business concepts, products, and services. The
campaign aims to educate Filipinos, through videos, print materials and events, on
the availability and viability of Filipino brands, and on the positive impact that going
local contributes to the economy.

PHmade’s tagline “It’s Worth Buying For” encourages each Filipino to think twice
before spending: is it really worth buying for? Yabang Pinoy believes that small
things, when done together, can create a big difference. If each Filipino became
conscious of where he spends one peso, he will understand how each choice affects
himself, fellow Filipinos, and the country. PHmade also aspires to influence Filipino
entrepreneurs into supporting local natural and human resources.

Indeed, patronage of locally made goods and services should be a lifestyle. It
enables homegrown brands to improve and compete against foreign brands. The
local economy also improves as money goes back and forth between consumer and
business, employee and employer. And as more entrepreneurs create, develop, and
expand their businesses, more job opportunities are generated. PHmade recognizes
Filipino ingenuity and the role of each Filipino in nation-building.

PHmade focuses on seven categories: Produce, Home, Footwear, Fashion, Personal
and Home Care, Food and Beverage, and Entertainment. The campaign will
continue to collaborate with Filipino entrepreneurs and encourage them to continue
to improve their products and services and to always aim for Filipino brands to be
global brands.

PHmade is a project of Yabang Pinoy, the pioneering Filipino pride movement that
started in 2005. As it celebrates its 8th anniversary, the organization includes it
among numerous Filipino pride projects, such as the Y.A.B.A.N.G. Camp (Youth
Achievers Building A Nation of Greatness Camp), Yabang Pinoy Goes to School,
Pinaka-mahabang Todo Patintero, Global Pinoy Bazaar, and many more. In the 8
years that Yabang Pinoy has immersed itself in various nation-building activities, it
re-affirms its belief that true progress and development in our country will start once
Filipinos begin living a proudly Filipino lifestyle.

Yabang Pinoy invites every Filipino to be part of the PHmade movement. As
early as now, save November 10- 11 2012 for the 8th Global Pinoy Bazaar – a
showcase of Filipino products made with 100% Filipino Love and Pride.

Happy Holiday at Happy Lemon

Yesterday, I went to Bonifacio High Street with my high school best friends just to chill and celebrate holiday. While waiting for the rest, we dropped by  at Happy Lemon, my bestfriend’s treat. Since I haven’t tried happy lemon ever, I told her to order for me. She got me Rock Salt and Cheese. And it made my day!  ;)

Happy Birthday at Shakeys

Because yesterday was brother’s physical birthday, we went to Market Market to celebrate it with mom. First we watch the first full-length Filipino movie entirely shot on green screen, Tiktik: the Aswang Chronicles (will post my review soon). Then we look for a place to dine. Since I am on a strict healthy diet, I let him decide. He chose Shakeys, our usual birthday venue. Well, who can resist their oh so tasty pizza?

Pepper Lunch’ Pepper Lover’s Card

Pepper Lunch launched the new loyalty card, the Pepper Lovers Card at SM Megamall and I was one of the lucky invites! Actually the card wasn’t new to others who are avid fans, but for me. I just heard Pepper Lunch and the good impression of some of my friends and fellow bloggers, so for me, visiting and dining was new. Plus the New Pepper Lover’s Card.

The PLC (Pepper Lover’s Card) goes like this:

  • Earn 1 point for every P20 spent in Pepper Lunch. One Point is equal to P1.
  • Earn minimum of 200 points to be able to redeem at any Pepper Lunch branch.
  • Use of Points should be in 100 denominations starting from 200 and above.
  • Updating of points is every Tuesday.

2012-09-29-18-28-31_photo

The card can purchased in any Pepper Lunch for P250.  Instructions to register can be found on the packaging of the card. So don’t throw it as you get the card. Read on the image below for details.

Also, one of the good things about PLC is, when you lost it or someone stole it (I hope not), you can still retrieve your points. Just go to any Pepper Lunch, buy the card and tell them the name you used to register.

After the brief talk regarding the PLC (Pepper Lover’s Card), we were given the chance to grab anything on their latest menu. I wasn’t really that hungry, but look at the menu! Who wouldn’t want to eat with such attractive presentation?

So for our first order, here’s what we got:

Of course, I got one with the best price. And boy! Pepper Lunch did not fail me.

But compared to what brother ordered for himself, Chicken and Angus beef- pretty deserving as well.

Why I loved Adobo at Adobo Connection

After the Green cross event, my original plan was to fix my requirements for the board, but it went different. My blogger and real life friend, Sarah of Food Republic invited me to accompany her on her interview at GMA7 for the Adobo Connection tasting. The interview went hilarious because we (FPJ of Fudfyt and I) did not expect them to actually asked us to be part of the interview- which was not really an interview but an acting segment for a TV program. They actually asked us to tell them why we loved the adobo at Adobo Connection (AC). Good thing, I am always game for adventure. :)

Honestly, that moment was the first time I heard and tried adobo at Adobo Connection. I’ve never tried any adobo inside the mall because usually it is cooked best at home or at the kerinderya. So for me, the idea of having adobo in a diverse manner of cooking is very unique, creative and worth trying. Too bad my camera’s down that time so here’s the only photo I got.

What I’ve tried at AC was their new Adobo Flakes (in merienda serving) and Red Berry iced Tea. They also served us 3 of their bestsellers: the Modern Nutty Adobo, Adobo sa Gata and Adobo ni Kuya. The thing I loved about their adobo is the combined taste of alat, tamis and anghang- which is so Pinoy. Plus, their creativity of cooking adobo in a way you can never imagine. And, the restaurant’s interior which displays a cool and homey ambiance. Lolos and lolas will love it.
And by the way, this coming week, they’ll be serving their new and affordable merienda, all for 49Php ONLY. Students and employees nearby will surely love Adobo Connection.
For more Adobo updates, visit their FB fan page, here.
