Sisig, pronounced as [see-sig], is a traditional Filipino food which is considered to be one of Pinoy’s specialty because the preparation requires time, effort and of course dugo’t pawis (blood and sweat) Lol! How to make it more appetizing? That is what I’m currently discovering but people of Mabalacat Pampanga impressed me last October 28, 2010 when they participated in the Super-sized Cook Off for the Best Tasting & Largest Serving “SISIG”.
Above pictures are some of the groups who presented their cheer before the cook off. Composed of 5 members each, they are required to present an SM Hypermarket receipt worth P500 to be able to join. They also pledged to cook a minimum of 50 plates, each weigh 100 grams. Below is the preparation.
Basically, meat is diced and sautéed with onions, soy sauce, vinegar, lemon juice, jalapeños and seasoned with salt, pepper, and other spices. And served on a sizzling plate added with a whole raw egg on top as the main garnishing. Now see some of the final products…
For me, all of them made their Sisig Uh-mazing but only two groups received P25,000 SM Hypermarket Gift Certificate each, plaque of recognition and gift pack from SM Hypermarket – (1) The Best Tasting Sisig and (2) The Most Number of Plates Served.
Tourne Masters won the Best Tasting Sisig
Linamnam Fast Food got the Most Number of Plates Served.
To close the event, people of Mabalacat, Pampanga were given the chance to grab their bets for their dinner. But, I together with Marjorie of livingmarjorney, Janese of lakwatseramom and my new blogger friend, Barbie of buhaykuneho chose, of course our bet (picture below) which happened to be the winner for the best tasting sisig. Plus, dumplings, fruits and ice cream (thanks to Ms. Frances of SM Hypermarket). And we went home with a full tummy. :)
Also thanks to Jonel of nomnomclub.com!
